It is time for a change.

RUSD and KUSD do not have a reliable, consistent open/closed/ delayed start call time to the public, making their calls sometimes as late as 7 A.M. (the day of school) ,regardless of weather warnings, causing the following concerning issues:

- Kids who don't receive busing ( living within two miles of their school ) having to walk in hazardous conditions: freezing weather, snow, ice, etc. to school not knowing whether they are open or not.

- Kids (and even parents) who do receive busing waiting for long periods of time in above mentioned conditions, not knowing whether their bus is coming or not.

-Parents/ teachers/ students/ staff/ bus drivers driving to work in hazardous conditions just to find out school is closed or teachers coming in to partially or even fully empty classrooms. Many report sliding all over the road, near miss accidents, and accidents caused because streets have not yet been plowed and/ or salted. 

- Parents having to change arrangements for children/ daycare last minute. ( Please remember every family has different situations and circumstances.)

I am petitioning that the call should be made by 9 P.M. the night before. I am asking for at least 100 signatures at first, and then at least 2,500 to present to RUSD and KUSD.
