The KUSD school board has decided to end the Infant Lab program at Indian Trail Academy. This program has helped countless teen parents become competent parents and high school graduates. The program allows teen parents to bring their infants to a day care in the school while they attend. The childcare is offered without charge to the parents so they can complete their education. As a participant in this program I received information on pregnancy and parenting, participated in parenting classes, and volunteered in the daycare. This program teaches the students the responsibility of parenting and offers them the resources to still succeed in life after graduation. If it wasn’t for this program many people I went to school with would not have graduated. Not every person can do online classes. Many of the girls in the program did not have transportation to get their children to alternate care. The women running this day care supported, not only the infants, but the parents as well.
