To President Joseph R. Biden Jr.,

We, the undersigned, come to you with deep respect and gratitude for your decades of public service and your accomplishments as President. Under your leadership, our nation has made significant progress on many fronts.  However, we believe the time has come for you to make a difficult but noble decision - to step aside and not seek re-election in 2024.

Our reasons are as follows:

1. Age and stamina: The demanding nature of the presidency and a grueling campaign require peak physical and mental acuity. Recent public appearances have raised concerns about your ability to meet these challenges.
2. Generational change: There is a growing desire among voters for new leadership from a younger generation of public servants who can bring fresh perspectives to our nation's challenges.
3. Party unity: By stepping aside, you would allow for an open convention process that could energize the Democratic base and produce a strong nominee for the general election.
4. Historical precedent: We are reminded of George Washington's decision to voluntarily relinquish power, an act that strengthened our democracy in its infancy. By following this example, you would reinforce the principles of rotation in office and peaceful transition of power.

Mr. President, we acknowledge that this is an enormous request. Your legacy of service is secure, and this final act of putting country before personal ambition would only enhance it further.   We ask that you consider this petition not as a rebuke, but as an appeal to your demonstrated patriotism and commitment to American democracy. The future of our nation hangs in the balance, and we believe this decision would best serve the country you have devoted your life to.
