The Issue

Petition to the Government of Pakistan for the Protection and Temporary Visa of At-Risk Afghan Nationals

To
The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,
Ministry of Interior, Islamabad.

Subject: Request for the Granting of Temporary Visas to At-Risk Afghan Nationals Awaiting Resettlement Abroad

Respected Sir/Madam,

We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition to urge the Government of Pakistan to take urgent humanitarian measures in favor of Afghan nationals currently residing in Pakistan who are at serious risk of deportation. Many of these individuals and families face grave dangers if returned to Afghanistan due to political, security, and humanitarian conditions.

At present, there are large numbers of Afghan citizens in Pakistan who:

1.      Are at imminent risk of deportation and persecution.

2.      Have active immigration or resettlement applications in process with Canada, the United States, Australia, and other countries.

We recognize Pakistan’s longstanding generosity in hosting Afghan refugees for decades and deeply respect the immense burden this has placed on the country. However, deporting these at-risk individuals before their resettlement cases are finalized could result in irreversible harm and loss of life.

Our Request
We respectfully appeal to the Government of Pakistan to:

1.      Introduce a Special Temporary Visa Program for Afghan nationals at risk, particularly those with active immigration files abroad.

2.      Set a Standard Visa and Extension Fee (renewable every six months) to ensure the program is both sustainable and orderly.

3.      Allow Legal Stay Until Resettlement so that Afghan families can remain lawfully in Pakistan while awaiting processing by Canada, the US, Australia, or other third countries.

4.      Coordinate with International Agencies and Host Countries to verify cases, ensure transparency, and share responsibility.

Benefits for Pakistan

·         Generates government revenue through visa and extension fees.

·         Reduces the risk of irregular or undocumented migration.

·         Demonstrates Pakistan’s continued leadership and humanitarian role on the international stage.

·         Builds stronger diplomatic ties with countries receiving Afghan refugees.

In the spirit of humanity, compassion, and international cooperation, we urge the Government of Pakistan to adopt this measure immediately. By doing so, Pakistan will not only protect vulnerable lives but also reinforce its reputation as a nation committed to justice, humanity, and global solidarity.

We sincerely thank you for your attention and consideration.

Respectfully,

Afghans at Risk.
