Petition for MBBS Internship Stipend Hike - Uttar Pradesh

Petition for MBBS Internship Stipend Hike - Uttar Pradesh
The Issue
We, the MBBS interns and medical students of Uttar Pradesh, are raising our collective voice for a fair, uniform, and dignified internship stipend.
The internship stipend in most UP government colleges currently stands at ₹12,000/month, which is one of the lowest in the country.
This is grossly inadequate considering the long working hours, clinical workload, emergency duties, and crucial roles interns play in patient care, including ICUs, labour rooms, and rural postings.
In contrast, states like
- Assam – ₹35,000/month
- Karnataka – ₹30,000/month
- West Bengal – ₹29,700 to ₹32,000/month
- Delhi – ₹26,300 to ₹28,000/month
- Tamil Nadu – ₹25,000 to ₹27,300/month
- Kerala – ₹23,000 to ₹25,000/month
- Goa – ₹20,000/month
- Andhra Pradesh – ₹20,000/month
reflecting greater respect for interns' service.
We demand:
- Uniform stipend of ₹26,000–₹30,000/month for all interns in UP
- Timely monthly payment without delays
- Parity with other states as per NMC norms and minimum wage standards
This form will collect supportive data from interns and students across Uttar Pradesh to submit a formal petition to the-
- Directorate General of Medical Education, (DGME) Uttar Pradesh
- Uttar Pradesh Medical Council
- Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), UP,
- Government of Uttar Pradesh
- Health and Family Welfare, Uttar Pradesh
- Higher Authorities in State & Central Government (MoHFW, NMC)
