This incident not only claimed Christian's life but also the lives of his two college friends. What was supposed to be an ordinary day turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy, leaving us with countless questions and shattered hearts. In the aftermath, the only witness was the truck driver, providing a single perspective with no corroborating accounts.

In our relentless pursuit of answers, we were met with numerous uncertainties. There were no signs of drugs, alcohol, or texting; my son was far from being an irresponsible driver. The absence of conclusive information deepened our grief.

While valid concerns about privacy exist, the greater good compels us to take action. Dashcams, though potentially seen as intrusive by some, offer a level of protection that far outweighs initial hesitations. They provide an objective, unaltered record of events, making it easier to establish accountability and accurately assign blame.

Imagine the peace of mind a truck driver could have, knowing that a dashcam meticulously captures the moments leading up to an accident, the accident itself, and its aftermath. This visual record serves as indisputable evidence, leaving no room for ambiguity. Ultimately, it's a win-win situation for all parties involved.

The loss of a child, a sibling, a grandchild, a cousin, a nephew, a best friend - such a tragedy leaves an enduring mark. Christian's life held immense promise, tragically extinguished at the tender age of 20. While we cannot change the past, my mission is to turn his memory into a catalyst for change. As a grieving parent seeking closure, I implore the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Texas Department of Transportation in each state to mandate the inclusion of dash cameras in all 18-wheelers and tractor-trailer operations.
