We, the undersigned, are calling on the Governor of Virginia and appropriate authorities to grant clemency to Kalim N. Rashid due to serious concerns about the fairness and integrity of his conviction.

This case is not just about mercy; it is about a failure of justice. 

⚖️ A TRIAL COMPROMISED BY WITHHELD EVIDENCE

Kalim was denied a fair trial due to violations of the discovery process, specifically involving critical DNA evidence that was never properly presented to him or his jury.

🧬 DNA Evidence the Jury Never Heard

According to forensic reports:
Item #5: DNA was recovered from the burglar at the point of entry
Item #20: DNA was recovered from a sheet allegedly used by the suspect during the crime

This DNA evidence had the potential to identify the true perpetrator or, at a minimum, raise reasonable doubt.

Yet, this critical evidence was not fully and fairly presented, depriving the jury of the ability to make an informed decision.

🚨 INVESTIGATIVE MISCONDUCT & HIDDEN STATEMENTS

Detective C. M. Gonzalez, who handled and submitted the evidence, reported that he questioned two additional individuals, along with the alleged victim, on the night of the incident.

However:
Original statements were altered, changed, or removed
Potentially exculpatory information was not disclosed
The full truth was not made available to the defense

This raises a serious question:

👉 Was the outcome of this case shaped by facts, or by what was withheld?

No investigator should have the power to determine which truths are seen and which are buried.

📍 GPS EVIDENCE THAT CONTRADICTS THE CONVICTION

Law enforcement had access to GPS/location data from the petitioner’s phone.

That data showed:
Kalim was not at the scene of the crime
His location did not match the prosecution’s narrative
Despite this, the information was not used to protect an innocent man; it was ignored.

Evidence is withheld
Witness statements are altered or removed
DNA evidence is not properly presented
Location data contradicts the charges

I have stood beside my husband through every moment of this journey, watching him fight to be heard while critical evidence was never fully brought to light. I have watched a man who was not given a fair opportunity to defend himself continue to grow, remain disciplined, and hold onto his faith and dignity despite it all.

For over a decade, he has stayed charge-free, worked on himself, and prepared for the day he could come home and be the husband, family member, and man he was always meant to be.

This is not just a case file to me; this is my life, my family, and a man I know does not belong behind bars for something he did not do.
