Petition for Exoneration, Ronin Nevels

The Issue

Ronin is not defined by the walls that surround him today. He is a son who honors his mother, a brother who loves deeply, an uncle who lights up family gatherings, a youth minister who has prayed with & guided young people, and an entrepreneur who has poured his creativity into serving his community.

He makes people feel seen, valued, and loved. He has shown up for so many of us in ways big and small, never asking for anything in return.

Now, he needs us his family in faith and community to stand for him.

Ronin is currently incarcerated while awaiting sentencing & appeal. These events will decide the course of his entire life.

While we trust God as our ultimate defender, we also know He calls us to act - to be His hands and feet, to "seek justice, defend the oppressed" (Isaiah 1:17).

When the news broke, those who know Ronin could not believe it. Some assumed it must have been self-defense. Others thought it had to be a mistake. His actions have always matched his character, and we stand behind him.

Community Ties and Accountability

Ronin is not a man without accountability. He is a devoted uncle to seven nieces and nephews who rely on him for emotional and practical support. He is an active member of his church family in Camden, as well as his grandmother’s congregation. Ronin has stood on the pulpit to deliver
the Word of God. That trust is earned, not given. His leadership is not just spiritual, it is personal, consistent, and lived.

These relationships are not symbolic. They are daily affirmations of his values and character. They reflect a man who is rooted, visible, and accountable to his community.

The Request

We, the undersigned, are making a plea for leniency in the sentencing of Ronin, hoping for a merciful rather than punitive sentence. His absence has been very challenging for the family both financially and emotionally. This is about more than one man’s case it’s about truth, fairness, and faith that justice will prevail.

Thank you for your kind attention and consideration regarding this matter.

Respectfully,

Friends & Family of Ronin Nevels
