Brantford is the fastest-growing city in Ontario, yet its transportation infrastructure is outdated and unprepared to handle the city's expanding population. Currently, most Brantford residents commuting to the GTA or Toronto rely on their personal vehicles due to limited public transit options. The existing GO Bus service between Brantford and Aldershot takes 40 minutes to an hour, discouraging regular use.

To address this, we urgently need an integrated and efficient transportation system that meets the needs of the community.

We, the undersigned, call for improved rail and transit connectivity between Brantford and Aldershot through the integration of VIA Rail and GO Train services. Specifically, we propose the following:

1. Additional Coaches and Increased Capacity: Boost VIA Rail capacity by adding additional coaches, ensuring all passengers can travel comfortably without overcrowding. Alternatively, consider introducing dedicated connectivity coaches to improve the overall travel experience.
2. Subsidized and Integrated Fares for Regular Travelers: Implement fare integration through the Ontario One Pass system. Currently, a one-way VIA Rail ticket from Brantford to Aldershot costs $26, while a GO Train weekday round-trip pass ranges from $30 for two people to $60 for five. The weekend unlimited GO Pass costs $10 per person. By subsidizing and integrating ticket rates, regular commuters will have access to more affordable and convenient travel options.
   These improvements will not only benefit existing passengers but will also encourage more people to choose public transit, reducing traffic congestion and the environmental impact.

We urge VIA Rail and GO Transit to consider these proposals and take immediate action to enhance connectivity between Brantford and Aldershot.
