The Issue

The Indian education system has left countless students, including myself, struggling with stress and mental health challenges caused by rote learning and excessive pressure. Our schools often value grades over learning, leaving little room for creativity, curiosity, or critical thinking.

The system stifles innovation, fuels unhealthy competition, and fails to prepare us for real-life challenges or essential life skills. Students deserve better.

What We Need

We call for an education system that:

• Encourages hands-on and experiential learning instead of rote memorisation.

• Promotes project-based and collaborative learning to spark curiosity.

• Prioritises mental well-being, self-confidence, and creativity alongside academics.

• Prepares students with practical skills to thrive in the real world.

Reforms for Schools (Public & Private)

• Balanced school timings (9 AM – 3 PM), with optional online or recorded extra classes for Classes 10 & 12.

• Interactive classes led by students (lectures, quizzes, and games).

• Psychologists or counsellors are appointed on every campus.

• Improved digital tools and smarter use of projectors.

• Morning energisers like freestyle dance to boost activity.

• Academic field trips (museums, science centres, industries).

• A suggestion box in every school for student voices.

• Positive affirmations to begin the day.

• Encouragement over punishment—guiding students even through failure.

• Motivational and stress-management sessions to build confidence.

Teaching & Textbooks

• Concise textbooks with clear key points instead of overwhelming paragraphs.

• Creative and visual teaching methods: flowcharts, models, videos, mind maps, and role plays.

• Lessons that connect with real-world applications.

Positive Changes This Will Bring

• Interactive, student-driven learning that sparks curiosity.

• Accessible mental health care for all students.

• Stress-free, supportive classrooms.

• Practical life skills woven into education.

• Confidence-building through positivity, not fear.

Implementation

Students across the country are already facing a serious crisis of stress, anxiety, and pressure from the current education system.

Change is needed, and it must be quick and effective to protect the well-being of today’s learners.

We respectfully urge the following steps:

• Begin pilot programmes in schools from the next academic year.

• Appoint counsellors/psychologists in schools at the earliest.

• Provide teacher training workshops to introduce creative, interactive teaching methods.

• Revise textbooks and exams gradually, starting with priority subjects.

• Add life skills education (finance, communication, and decision-making) into the curriculum immediately.

With the support of policymakers, educators, and parents, these reforms can be implemented smoothly and effectively. This will ensure that students excel academically and grow into confident, healthy, and capable citizens.

Call to Action

By signing this petition, you demand an education system that nurtures creativity, builds resilience, and prepares students for life—not just exams.

Together, let us transform education in India into a joyful journey of learning, growth, and discovery !!!

Education is essential but should be provided to all students in a fun, engaging, and realistic manner.
