Petition for Arcane to release the Vi and Caitlyn scene with partial nudity (uncensored)
La causa
Everything the Arcane team, including Joséphine Meis, has done is incredible. The storytelling, the relationships—especially between Ekko and Jinx, and of course, Vi and Caitlyn—are some of the best parts of the series. But I have a question about Episode 8 from Season 2...
Why didn't they create a single scene showing Vi and Caitlyn partially and almost completely naked in the prison scene? They were supposed to show it—just like it happens in Heavy Metal (1981) and Titanic, directed by legends like James Cameron and Ivan Reitman. These directors knew how to handle such scenes in a way that added depth and meaning. Although Reitman is no longer here and may he rest in peace
I love what they did with the story and the characters in Arcane, but I feel like in certain key scenes, they failed to show their vulnerability in a more authentic way. A lesbian relationship like Vi and Caitlyn’s, with partial nudity in the prison scene—only showing their bellies and chests—would have been an important element in revealing their intimacy and raw emotional reality. It’s not about being provocative; it’s about storytelling—helping the audience connect with the characters on a deeper level.
For example, in Titanic, Rose’s full nudity was symbolic of her breaking free from societal constraints. That’s the kind of authenticity that would have made this scene of episode 8 from season 2 in Arcane even more powerful. Directors like James Cameron and Guillermo del Toro understand how to use these moments to add emotional depth without making them gratuitous.
If they had done it this way before, they would have won even more awards… but it’s not fair that they decided to censor it. The Arcane team should look at those examples and learn how to approach these scenes properly."**
