It has been four years since we first shared our story, and we want to provide an update on Hashmath’s progress.

➡️ She is still nonverbal, but there have been significant improvements in her condition.
➡️ She now communicates using some signs, though still limited.
➡️ Her ability to mingle with others has improved, and her aggression is gone.
➡️ Behaviorally, she acts like any other child, which is a huge relief for us as parents.

However, the financial burden has not reduced. Even today, we spend close to ₹60,000 per month on her therapies and treatments (and likely more).

Insurance remains a major issue.
🔸 There is still no proper insurance coverage for children with hearing loss and autism.
🔸 Even if coverage exists, it is filled with so many riders and exclusions that it is practically useless.
🔸 Families like ours are left to bear the cost alone, despite this being a treatable condition.

A Call for Urgent Action
Awareness about Autism remains alarmingly low. Many still misunderstand it as a disease, which it is not. Autism is a neurological difference, and children like Hashmath deserve acceptance, inclusion, and proper support.

The government must take this issue seriously, ensuring:
✔ Financial assistance for treatments & therapies
✔ Better insurance coverage without hidden exclusions
✔ Increased awareness programs to educate society

Our journey continues, and while we are grateful for every small victory, a lot of work still needs to be done to support children with hearing loss and autism.
