Petition for Adopting More Traditional Elements in the Liturgy at St. Jude.

The Issue

At St. Jude, there is a dedicated and diverse community of faithful Catholics devoted to reverence, beauty, and mysticism in worship and spiritual life. We are very privileged to have the support of our shepherd, and we would like to express the spiritual hunger of some of the flock. Within an already liturgically diverse parish, many of St. Jude’s most avid parishioners have discovered aspects of the Church’s liturgical tradition that invite them deeper into the great mysteries of the faith. The Sacred Liturgy is the ‘summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the font from which all her power flows;’ and we believe that following the ancient principle 'Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi' (the law of prayer is the law of belief) will greatly help produce much spiritual fruit in the areas of vocations to the priesthood and strengthen the belief in the True Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Therefore, the members of St. Jude Catholic Church respectfully submit this petition, seeking the consideration and adoption of traditional elements in the Eucharistic Liturgy. Some of these elements are: Gregorian chant to be the dominant type of music. That Latin be used more frequently. Kneelers for Holy Communion. These suggestions need not be considered or implemented entirely or exclusively. The addition of even one of these elements has the potential to shape the sensus fidelium, the sense of the faithful, and to feed your flock.
