The Issue

We, the undersigned, call for the resignation of the current Executive Director of Capital Pride.

On Sunday August 24 2025, Capital Pride released a public statement that singled out and placed blame on this year’s Grand Marshal, Miss Patience Plush, and Queers for Palestine (Q4P). This decision not only distorted the truth but directly endangered lives. Since that post, Miss Plush a Black and Indigenous trans person of colour has been subjected to ongoing death threats. The harm has gone beyond personal safety, extending to her livelihood and ability to earn an income.

This petition is not about cancelling an individual. It is about accountability in leadership. The Executive Director, by virtue of her position, holds responsibility for decisions that impact the safety and well-being of community members. By authorizing a statement that incited harassment and violence, she has failed to uphold the values of equity, inclusion, and protection that Pride must represent.

We are calling for her resignation in order to restore trust, protect those most marginalized in our communities, and ensure that Capital Pride can continue forward with leadership that reflects the principles of solidarity, safety, and justice.

We stand with Miss Patience Plush. We stand with Queers for Palestine. And we demand accountability.
