The Issue

To: Essex Police, RSPCA, Basildon Council Animal Welfare Services, and Councillor Gavin Callaghan

We, the undersigned, call for a complete and thorough search—both inside and outside—of the property currently under investigation in Crays Hill, Billericay (postcode CM11), in connection with an ongoing animal cruelty case in which 41 deceased dogs have already been discovered.

The fact that so many remains were located so quickly raises serious concern that more may still be hidden—particularly underground. Local residents have noted that a pond previously existed in the back garden of the property and was filled in after the current resident moved in. This could indicate the presence of additional remains or evidence.

We are calling for:

·        A full excavation of all outdoor areas, including the previously filled-in pond.

·        The use of specialist search methods, such as ground-penetrating radar and cadaver dogs.

·        A comprehensive search of all internal and external parts of the property to ensure nothing has been missed.

This is not just about collecting evidence—this is about securing justice. The community is heartbroken by the suffering these animals endured. We believe they deserve to be found, acknowledged, and never forgotten.

Please sign and support this petition to urge the relevant authorities to take immediate and thorough action.

I'm starting this petition because many people placed trust in a rescue that claimed it could help dogs with behavioural issues. People surrendered their pets and paid £300 in good faith, believing their dogs would be cared for and given a second chance. Instead, what came to light in May 2025 was horrific: dozens of dogs found dead, others severely neglected, and over 150 still missing. What’s worse is that serious concerns were raised years earlier, yet it took this long for action to be taken. The initial police search was clearly incomplete, and more remains were discovered only after a neighbour found a dog’s leg in their garden. If this were a case involving human victims, it would have been treated with far more urgency and thoroughness. These animals didn’t have voices—they relied on us. They were failed, and they deserve justice. That’s why I’m demanding a full, proper investigation, including a search of the grounds and garden where suspicious changes have been made.

If this were 41 people dead and over 150 missing, the country would demand answers. If a police dog were killed, there would be no rest until justice was done. These dogs are no less deserving.

We urge the relevant authorities to act with urgency, transparency, and compassion. These animals must not be forgotten. Justice demands a full, professional search of the grounds, including areas that were suspiciously altered.

Let us show that animal lives matter, and that cruelty — no matter how long hidden — will not go unanswered.

Please sign and share this petition. We demand action. We demand justice.
