I am pleased to notify you that The St. Michael’s Church Preservation Society was among the honorees on Friday, July 12 at UNICO’s Annual Persons of the Year Banquet at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. UNICO is a National, Italian-American cultural charity, and was chartered in 1980 to celebrate the cultural heritage of Italian Americans in New Jersey, and to foster avenues of charity.  Accepting the Honor on behalf of the SMCPS was Local Coordinator Richard Negro, Francine Bruno, Marcia Mancini and National Coordinator Robert Venafro. UNICO also recognized several others at the Banquet and awarded $34,000 in College Scholarships to deserving High School Seniors.

UNICO is SMCPS’s most loyal and largest group partner in the mission to preserve Historic St. Michael’s Church for another 100 years. This recognition by a valued friend solidifies our close ties and pride in our common Italian-American Heritage. As stated that evening.

“...St. Michael’s Church is a scared space infused with a special grace and history that drives all to be closer to God. This Church must not only be preserved physically but filled with adorers once again…...this in the long run will assure its existence and this truly is a job uniquely cast for us Italian-Americans from Atlantic City.”
