The Islamic Republic has oppressed, tortured, and killed the Iranian people - for any dissent or anti-regime activity - for the past 46 years. Iranian citizens have organized several large-scale opposition protests in the years since, but Israel's 12-day war against the regime, coupled with growing demonstrations protesting corruption, executions, lack of water, lack of electricity, and unemployment, represent the most substantial threat we've seen to the Islamic Republic. 

Morale inside the country is key to continuing the momentum, and optics matter. The flag of the Islamic Republic does NOT represent the Iranian people. In virtually any opposition material, you'll see the flag below: the existing tricolor, but featuring the Persian lion and sun (Shir-e-Khorshid). This flag represents Persian unity and over 3000 years of history, and it's the one that should be used to support the revolution. 

We ask that Apple change the current Islamic Republic flag emoji to the Persian lion and sun flag to support Iranians in their fight for freedom.

جمهوری اسلامی در ۴۶ سال گذشته مردم ایران را - به خاطر هرگونه مخالفت یا فعالیت ضد رژیم - سرکوب، شکنجه و کشته است. شهروندان ایرانی در سال‌های پس از آن چندین اعتراض گسترده مخالفان را سازماندهی کرده‌اند، اما جنگ ۱۲ روزه اسرائیل علیه این رژیم، همراه با تظاهرات فزاینده در اعتراض به فساد، اعدام‌ها، کمبود آب، کمبود برق و بیکاری، نشان‌دهنده جدی‌ترین تهدیدی است که ما برای جمهوری اسلامی دیده‌ایم. روحیه مردم داخل کشور که به جنبش ادامه می‌دهند باید حفظ شود و اینکه جهان چگونه به این وضعیت نگاه می‌کند، مهم است. پرچم جمهوری اسلامی نماینده مردم ایران نیست. تقریباً در تمام فعالیت‌های مخالفان، پرچم زیر را خواهید دید: پرچم سه رنگ موجود، اما با نشان شیر و خورشید ایرانی. این پرچم نمایانگر وحدت ایرانی و بیش از ۳۰۰۰ سال تاریخ است و همان پرچمی است که باید برای حمایت از انقلاب استفاده شود. ما از اپل می‌خواهیم که ایموجی فعلی پرچم جمهوری اسلامی را به پرچم شیر و خورشید ایرانی تغییر دهد تا از ایرانیان در مبارزه‌شان برای آزادی حمایت کند.
