Stop the Relocation of the 50 + Year-Old Juhu Koliwada Bus Stop
We, the undersigned residents, commuters, and concerned citizens, strongly object to BEST’s proposal to relocate the Juhu Koliwada Bus Stop, as announced in the public notice displayed on 23 June 2026.
The notice states that the bus stop will be shifted unless objections are received within 15 days. However, it fails to provide the most important information: where the bus stop is proposed to be relocated and why this relocation is necessary.
The Juhu Koliwada Bus Stop has served the community for over 50 years and is a vital part of the area’s public transport network. Every day, it is used by senior citizens, school and college students, working professionals, women, persons with disabilities, and countless other commuters from Juhu Koliwada, Mangelwadi, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Relocating such an important public facility without informing the public of the proposed new location or consulting the community is neither transparent nor in the public interest. Residents have a right to know how this decision will affect their daily lives before it is implemented.
We therefore call upon BEST to:
- Immediately suspend the proposed relocation of the Juhu Koliwada Bus Stop.
- Publicly disclose the exact proposed new location and the reasons for the proposed shift.
- Conduct meaningful consultation with local residents, commuters, and elected representatives before making any final decision.
- Retain the existing bus stop unless there is a compelling and publicly explained reason for its relocation.
We also wish to place on record that we will be filing an application under the Right to Information Act, 2005, seeking all records, file notings, surveys, correspondence, approvals, and other documents relating to the proposal to relocate the Juhu Koliwada Bus Stop. Upon receipt of this information, we reserve our right to submit further objections and pursue all remedies available under law, if necessary.
A bus stop that has served the community for more than half a century should not be moved without transparency, public participation, and due consideration of the impact on thousands of daily commuters.

आम्ही, खाली स्वाक्षरी करणारे रहिवासी, प्रवासी आणि जागरूक नागरिक, २३ जून २०२६ रोजी प्रसिद्ध करण्यात आलेल्या जाहीर सूचनेद्वारे जुहू कोळीवाडा बस थांबा स्थलांतरित करण्याच्या बेस्टच्या (BEST) प्रस्तावावर तीव्र आक्षेप घेत आहोत.
या सूचनेत नमूद केले आहे की, १५ दिवसांच्या आत आक्षेप न आल्यास बस थांबा हलविला जाईल. तथापि, यात सर्वात महत्त्वाची माहिती दिलेली नाही: बस थांबा नेमका कुठे हलविण्याचा प्रस्ताव आहे आणि हे स्थलांतर का आवश्यक आहे?
जुहू कोळीवाडा बस थांबा ५० वर्षांहून अधिक काळापासून नागरिकांची सेवा करत आहे आणि तो या परिसरातील सार्वजनिक वाहतूक व्यवस्थेचा एक अत्यंत महत्त्वाचा भाग आहे. दररोज ज्येष्ठ नागरिक, शालेय व महाविद्यालयीन विद्यार्थी, नोकरदार वर्ग, महिला, दिव्यांग व्यक्ती आणि जुहू कोळीवाडा, मांगेलवाडा व आसपासच्या परिसरातील असंख्य प्रवासी याचा वापर करतात.
प्रस्तावित नवीन ठिकाणाची माहिती न देता किंवा स्थानिक लोकांशी चर्चा न करता अशा महत्त्वाच्या सार्वजनिक सुविधेचे स्थलांतर करणे, ही कृती पारदर्शक नाही आणि ती जनहितार्थही नाही. हा निर्णय अंमलात आणण्यापूर्वी त्याचा आपल्या दैनंदिन जीवनावर कसा परिणाम होईल, हे जाणून घेण्याचा रहिवाशांना अधिकार आहे.
त्यामुळे आम्ही बेस्टला (BEST) खालीलप्रमाणे विनंती/आवाहन करत आहोत:
जुहू कोळीवाडा बस थांब्याचे प्रस्तावित स्थलांतर त्वरित स्थगित करावे.
प्रस्तावित नवीन ठिकाण आणि स्थलांतराची कारणे जाहीर करावीत.
कोणताही अंतिम निर्णय घेण्यापूर्वी स्थानिक रहिवासी, प्रवासी आणि लोकप्रतिनिधींशी अर्थपूर्ण चर्चा करावी.
स्थलांतरासाठी एखादे ठोस आणि सार्वजनिकरीत्या स्पष्ट केलेले कारण नसेल, तर सध्याचा बस थांबा आहे तसाच ठेवावा.
