We Say NO to the Ballysillan 5G Mast – Our Community Deserves Better
The 17.5m telecommunications mast at 423 Ballysillan Road has been forced into our neighbourhood without proper notice, consultation, or consent. It is directly across from Belfast Boys’ Model School, beside occupied homes, and plans also passed opposite our doctors’ surgery, and in clear view from Ballysillan Park and the Seed & Bean café — places used daily by families, children, and older residents.
This mast is already becoming a magnet for vandalism, as feared. It's an eyesore and a symbol of how our voices have been ignored. The planning documents are riddled with errors — from the wrong address to false claims about the site being “non-residential” — and yet it was still approved. And now they’re proposing another mast at 168 Ballysillan Road.
We’re saying ENOUGH.
We are a strong and proud community, and we are standing together to demand the immediate removal of this mast and the cancellation of any future plans. We refuse to be overlooked, misinformed, and dismissed.
Over 150 people have signed our petition — and that number is growing by the day.
We’ve raised this with the council, the media, our elected representatives — and we won’t stop until our concerns are heard and action is taken.
Please help us keep up the pressure:
