Petite People Matter: The Need for Dedicated Petite Clothing Sizes
The Issue
Hi! My name is Stefaniya Makarova.
I am a petite model and an advocate for greater representation of petite models in the fashion industry. Despite the growing push for diversity and inclusion, petite models remain underrepresented—largely because designers continue to overlook petite sizing.
The fashion industry is missing a powerful opportunity to serve people of shorter stature, even though the majority of the global population is not tall. Petite people matter, and they deserve clothing designed specifically for their proportions.
In speaking with many petite individuals, I found a shared challenge: they struggle to find well-fitting, stylish clothing. If designers begin to consider the needs of petite consumers, they’ll not only open up a new market, but they’ll also create space for petite models to thrive within the industry.
To champion this cause, I created the PETITE Movement, where PETITE stands for:
Personality Empowerment To Intelligence To Enlightenment
I believe fashion isn’t about height—it’s about personality, expression, and confidence. The PETITE Movement is about self-acceptance. People often compare themselves to unrealistic standards, but when they see someone in fashion who looks like them, it encourages self-love and confidence.
When we learn to accept ourselves, we become more open to accepting others—and that’s how we create a more loving, inclusive society. The fashion industry holds incredible power to shape how people see themselves and each other.
I started this petition to raise awareness and help drive real change. Please vote and support this movement—because petite people matter.
