Please take part in this Ealing Council survey by tomorrow

First of all I want to thank you for the signing and sharing the petition. It's reassuring to know that others agree that "Dale's Field" is a good idea.

I also want to thank Jason Rosam of BBC Radio London for letting me talk about the petition on his show last week. 

If you live in the London Borough of Ealing please take a look at this link. It asks you to download a pdf before completing a survey about the piece of land they refer to as Horsenden Hill Recreation ground but you can just go straight to the survey.

Ealing Council has used some of the dullest photographs of the site to make you think of it as wasted space. They'll show you stock photos of wildflowers, a pond, play and exercise equipment. These have begun to appear in parks across the borough. The difference is that those things have been put into existing formal parks. Why sow commercially produced wildflower seed where there are already grasses and flowers supporting insect life? Why create a wildlife pond in an area right next to a canal that supports fish and insects? In that area I've been surrounded by the most beautiful damsel flies that looked like winged sapphires in the sunlight - they didn't rely on Ealing's parks department to get there. As for exercise and play equipment, these require tidy, hard surfaces. Are we so lacking in imagination and so unmotivated that we need official toys to get out doors and burn off calories? For months we weren't allowed to use existing playgrounds or exercise equipment because of Covid-19. The problem hasn't gone away. Will the field be "improved" only to be put out of bounds during another lockdown? 

Let's use this space, as it is, for the therapeutic support of veterans in memory of someone who lived in Greenford, rather than submitting to a template created by someone who doesn't. 

Please follow this link to the consultation page and then the one to the survey. Reject the options available. Tell them you want it left as it is. Tell them about "Dale's Field". Please do it by tomorrow.
