Back in 2012/13 when the latest Mayo county plan was being put together, 284 took the trouble to email in a submission to the county planners saying they wanted a greenway on the old railway in Kiltimagh. The county council did not receive a single submission asking for a velorail. The county put the velorail into the county plan as a preferred option, as said when . I challenged the county council on this many times, they chose to ignore public opinion. In fact, I wrote in public that they had effectively chosen to ignore 284 submissions. In September last year Mayo county council wasted tax payers money sending me two threatening solicitors letters basically saying if I didn't shut up they would take me to court, to try and gag me, the threats of these letters made me quite ill. Can you believe that? This is the first time I have gone public on this outrage. So if you feel this is the wrong way for a county council to behave towards a citizen campaigning for something he believes in, maybe we should be doing more than signing petitions, please come back with your comments; more to come from me, in the meantime share this story with others and please lets get more from Kiltimagh area signing this petition - lots already have.
