Dear Supporters,
The Australian government may have acted to fly Nazanin out of Nauru, but their abusive treatment of her and her family continues. Since arriving at the hospital, her family are restricted to 2-3 minute phone calls whenever they are given 'permission' by the Nauru guards.
These are the same guards who Nazanin's brother alleges have urinated on him and bullied him since news of Nazanin's condition has broken.
Nazanin is alone and scared, without her family, and may now need to undergo stomach surgery due to internal bleeding.
Internationally recognised psychiatrist and trauma specialist Dr. Helen Driscoll has raised concerns about her treatment. How can a 23 year old girl, who has been raped and abused and is now facing major surgery be kept isolated from her family?
Worst of all, as soon as Nazanin is deemed well enough to travel, she will be flown back to Nauru, where women are forced to wash themselves with guards watching only metres away.
PLEASE HELP! The government wants a pat on the back for allowing 12,000 Syrian refugees in, but it is the grossest hypocrisy to continue our treatment of the incarcerated asylum seekers who fled their countries for the same exact reasons.
Contact Peter Dutton's office either by phone or email and demand that Nazanin's family be flown to Brisbane to help her rehabilitate from her trauma and surgery AND that she be permanently resettled in Australia.
