Convince my parents to get me a lovebird

Convince my parents to get me a lovebird
The Issue
Hello! I'm just some person who's having trouble telling or convincing my parents on why I should have a bird. Now, I've been saving up money from loading and unloading the dishwasher at our house. I earn 10 dollars per week and I've already gotten a VR set using the money earned from it. Now, I want a pet bird. I've been watching a lot of videos about birds and how to properly train and take care of them. I think it's cool how they can fly and I think they'd be good pets for me. Now, the only thing I have to do is tell my parents. I've never really been good at telling them anything or asking them for anything because I'm scared of how they'd react. Sometimes I can pull through and tell them but not this time. I went downstairs to go ask my mom the simple question "Can I get a bird?" and ended up telling her "Hey, so I watched a bunch of videos about birds and how to take care of them and their average cost and I found out if I save up enough money and save it until I get older, I might be able to get a bird!" Ugh. Anyways, it flopped and then a couple hours later in the same day I told my dad that I wanted a bird. He simply said no because he liked dogs better. I'm going to list a few reasons as to why I should be able to get a bird.
- It's my own money that I've earned from doing chores around the house. I should be able to use it as my own, and if I don't, I don't think I should call it my money.
- I'll clean up after it, feed it, and keep it in my room. I'll take care of it all by myself and I'll put off time to care for my bird and make sure it feels safe and not stressed out.
- I will use my own money from my chores to buy the right food and cages, and I'll let it out of its cage for a few hours daily so it can get the food and exercise it needs.
- I will properly train my bird and train it not to be disturbing and make noise while my family is trying to sleep or needs to be focused and cannot be disturbed by the bird.
Please, sign this petition and share it with your friends as if this does not convince my parents to let me get a bird, I don't know what will. I hope my parents see this and let me get a pet bird. They've always told me they wanted a pet but they've never gotten one. But, I'm committed to taking care of my bird for as long as it lives. Thank you for reading this, and if you sign, thank you so much. I appreciate it a lot.
