Dear Petition Supporters,

My name is Jason, and I’m part of the Decision Maker team at Change.org. We reached out to local officials to ensure they had seen this petition and to request a response to the concerns being raised.

We can confirm that the issue was discussed during the Blair County Board of Commissioners meeting on March 27, 2025. At that meeting, the Commissioners decided to hold on the vote on the proposed prison site.

We’ve also heard from an update shared by people in the community advocating on your behalf that this milestone was due in large part to supporters like you—your signatures, outreach, and public comments were heard.

However, it was also emphasized in their update that only respectful dialogue and feedback are welcome, and that disrespectful behavior has no place in this process. They elevated that the Commissioners are facing a difficult task, and constructive engagement is the most effective way to make your voices heard.

As of now, the vote has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
