Hi, I'm Alexa, I'm a student in the North Penn school district. Our district has three middle schools called Pennfield, Penndale, and Pennbrook. At the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, we were told about a new cell phone policy that would be enforced immediately. the main part of the policy is as follows, "students must keep their personal devices on silent mode and out of sight throughout the school day." This includes during class, in the hallways and bathrooms, and during lunch. The first two seemed reasonable but lunch came as a surprise to me. Why shouldn't we be allowed our phones during lunch? It made sense that it'd break focus during class, I could understand denying it then, but lunch was our time to hang out and get away from work for a mere 30 minutes each day. I spoke to friends and other students who felt the same way. That's why I decided to make this petition. if you agree with our cause, please sign, we're looking to reach 1k signatures.
