📣 Tuesday’s Petition Update - We’re Almost at 2,000!

🎉 We are SO CLOSE to 2,000 signatures! 🎉
The last few days have been incredibly busy, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has signed, shared the petition, commented with their experiences, and helped keep attention on what is happening at the ECCO Quarry Park site.
The petition and concerns from surrounding communities have now received coverage from CTV News and Global News, in addition to earlier coverage from LiveWire Calgary and CityNews. Tomorrow morning, I’ll also be speaking with 770 NewsRadio about the fire, the petition, and why I believe it’s important that residents have a voice in what happens with this site going forward.
Yesterday, I also had the opportunity to speak personally with Minister Tanya Fir, MLA for Calgary-Peigan, which includes my community. She reassured me that the situation at ECCO is a top priority and told me that community feedback like this is helpful as she works to escalate residents’ concerns with the Environment Minister and City officials. I really appreciated her taking the time to call me personally and discuss what residents have been experiencing.
That is exactly why I believe it is important that we continue making our voices heard.
Our next big milestone: 5,000 signatures! 🙌
If you’ve already signed, please consider sharing the petition with your friends, neighbours, colleagues and community groups. Every signature helps demonstrate the level of community concern and gives our elected representatives more feedback from the people affected.
❤️ Nearly 2,000 people have already added their voices. Let’s get to 5,000!
Media coverage:
