Council for Intellectual Disability

10 avr. 2018
On Friday Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that the NSW Government will continue funding disability advocacy organisations in NSW, including Council for Intellectual Disability (CID), for 2 more years!
This is a Big Win for CID’s Don’t Silence Us campaign and the NSW Disability Advocacy Alliance’s Stand By Me campaign, and it is all thanks to your great work!
To everyone who signed our petitions, had postcards signed, put posters up, came to our events and rallies and emailed, phoned and visited so many MPs – thank you!
We have won - but only the first round.
The funding commitment announced on Friday is only for 2 years so there is still more work to do.
We have made it clear that we need a commitment from all political parties for long-term, ongoing funding for disability advocacy in NSW and that we will continue to campaign to achieve this.
Nevertheless we are very pleased about the Government’s announcement which should secure funding for CID’s disability advocacy work until 2020.
Thank you again everyone for your wonderful support for the Don’t Silence Us and Stand By Me campaigns!
Yours,
Fiona and The CID Advocacy Team
P.S. We will keep this petition live until our funding is secured so please continue to encourage your friends and families to sign it.
