Thank Senator Feinstein for requesting probe into BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program

The Issue

Dear Senator Feinstein,

We citizens of the United States of America would like to formally thank you for initiating a request for investigation of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) adoptions and sales through its Wild Horse and Burro Program.

Although concerns have become more widespread after multiple reports that Adoption Incentive Program (AIP) animals were allegedly being sold and are being bailed out of the slaughter dealer networks to safety, we wish to express that the concerns go much deeper than the AIP.

Because BLM wild horses and burros can be titled after one year after adoption and "Sale Authority" animals are sold with only a bill of sale, these animals put into "private care" by BLM (or certain animals under purview of USFS)  thusly not only loose their wild protections afforded by the Wild Free Roaming Horse and Burro Act of 1971, but thousands are now aging, in their teens and twenties and at ANY time they too can find themselves in the slaughter pipeline and this has been going on for decades: https://rtfitchauthor.com/2011/09/10/for-horse-lovers-everywhere-the-truth-about-horse-slaughter/

We are the citizens collectively sharing their information on social media and other networks. While some of us are donating our own income on their purchase, transport and after care from the horse trader/slaughter dealer lots themselves, some of us have fostered and adopted them from rescues; that are overflowing with former wild horses and burros that have been purchased from the slaughter dealer networks.

Here is just one example of how easily this can happen to America's BLM mustangs:

Hence our request for the probe to go back decades in investigating BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Program.

In closing, these generationally wild horses and burros on our public lands are living descendants of animals that aided our country's rise to greatness and they belong to the people of the states and to the nation. They do not deserve to go to a slaughter plant. See video:

Senator Feinstein, we are grateful for your continued efforts in prompting a thorough probe into these matters and hope this will be the beginning of change, supported and championed by many of your peers. We implore our public servants and law makers to recognize and remedy the continued problems arising from the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program.

Thank you again. Sincerely, we stand by for change.
