On December 13, 2013, Kenneth Wayne Leighty, plead guilty to third-degree murder in the 1999 slaying of my 22-year-old sister, Sherry Jean Leighty. He was her father-in-law at the time of her murder. He hid her body on his Warriors Mark property for almost 14 years. The same property he would take her three children to every year for camping and hunting, all along knowing he killed their mother and buried her on that same land. Lying to her children all those years telling them that their mom had left them for a boyfriend and moved out of state.

He only received a seven to fourteen year prison sentence for her murder due to a plea deal made with prosecutors for him showing them where to locate her remains.

Help by making it clear that we as a society and community do not feel that seven years in prison is payment enough for the bludgeoning death of a beautiful mother of three young children. Demand that he remains behind bars for his entire sentence.
