With much gratitude, we thank you for taking part in this unprecedented civil #MovementAgainstHate. In just 3 days, over 8000 Pakistanis (including you) from 84 countries around the world took part in this petition, calling on PEMRA to hold GEO and Aamir Liaquat accountable for hate speech and incitement to violence. Many more took part in our social media campaigns to stop #AmirLiaqatSpreadingViolence. Congratulations. Your passionate activism to #RidPakistanOfHate has paid off. Your voice has been heard. PEMRA has issued a formal show cause notice to GEO on violating its code of conduct, and asked to submit a written response within 14 days. GEO TV Network has also tendered a public apology. This petition has served its purpose. Our demands to Geo (as stated in this letter (http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/opinion/29-Dec-2014/an-open-letter-to-geo-tv) were simple 1) Geo publicly apologize 2) Fire Aamir Liaquat. We have succeeded in #1. We will make sure #2 is taken care of as well. However, this petition was only the first part of a campaign that will not rest until Aamir Liaquat is fired from GEO and banned from our airwaves, setting a strong precedent in our nation's war against extremism. This is not Aamir Liaquat's first attack on our minorities. We will also demand that Aamir Liaquat and Mullah Arif Shah Owaisi be accountable under Pakistan's Penal Code.
