Dear fellow citizen, As some of you already know, a new rights campaign - #IStandWithAhmadis - went LIVE on December 1 and will run for 10 days, officially closing on December 10. Its launch was marked by a twitter trend (#IStandWithAhmadis trended #3 in Pakistan). Many journalists, artists, scholars and common Pakistanis have sent in their messages of support in the form of picture messages & videos. A group of us Pakistani rights activists - and members of the civil society - have come together and decided to say enough & finally raise our voice for the equal rights of fellow Ahmadi citizens in Pakistan. We believe that everyone must be afforded equal rights as promised by the founder of Pakistan, the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. As such, the State-sanctioned persecution of Ahmadis and the denial of their basic religious freedom is an affront to the very founding principles of our nation. We do not have to agree with someone's beliefs to ensure their rights. The discrimination Ahmadis face is shameful and is a blot on our sense of morality and on our international reputation.
