Why this petition matters

Started by Bakewell Petitions

The Co-op supermarket in Bakewell have submitted plans to change part of their shop into a 50-seater inside restaurant with outside seating extending onto the pavement.

We need your help to object to this as this will be catastrophic for those independents in Bakewell and will have a devastating effect if allowed to go ahead.

~ Bakewell is known for being a historic market town, we DO NOT need nor want to be like every other high street in the UK with a large multiple putting locally run, long established, small independents out of business.
~ The last two years of trading have been unprecedented, in doing this Coop have shown no respect or thought for those in the town, it could be the final nail in many businesses coffin.
~ In plans submitted they propose to have just ONE toilet for 50 plus seats
~ Most important of all, the town is already saturated with cafes and places to eat and does not need another one

Please help us and sign our petition to object to this proposal…
