For years, residents of North Macedonia have been unable to fully use PayPal. While we can send money and make purchases, we cannot receive payments into our PayPal accounts. This limitation is holding back freelancers, small businesses, and individuals who rely on global online platforms to earn a living.

In 2019, the National Bank of North Macedonia updated regulations to allow residents to hold accounts with foreign payment services like PayPal.

Despite this, PayPal has not enabled the ability to receive money, leaving us cut off from opportunities that people in other countries take for granted. In today's digital economy, this restriction is unacceptable-it limits our ability to work with international clients, grow our businesses, and participate fully in the global market.

North Macedonia isn't alone. Many countries face similar restrictions with PayPal, and it's time for this to change. By enabling receiving payments in North Macedonia, PayPal can set a precedent for expanding access worldwide, empowering millions of people to thrive in the digital age.

We call on PayPal to:

• Enable receiving payments for North Macedonia residents immediately.
• Work with local authorities to ensure full functionality of PayPal services.
• Expand access to other underserved countries facing the same issue.

Imagine being a graphic designer in Skopje who lands a project with a client in the United States, only to realize you can't receive payment through PayPal.

Or a small business owner in Bitola who wants to sell handmade crafts online to customers worldwide but is forced to rely on costly and complicated alternatives because PayPal won't allow incoming payments. These are not hypothetical scenarios— they are the daily struggles of countless North Macedonians who are eager to contribute to the global economy but are held back by PayPal's inaction.
