We, the families of McKinley Elementary School, disagree with the principal's decision to cancel the Gold Rush trip.

We petition the school to reinstate the Gold Rush trip and to continue to include this trip in the curriculum taught at McKinley Elementary School.

Please see below comments from McKinley parents regarding the shocking cancellation of the trip:

"It is unbelievable to me to think that our school is playing it “SAFE” in the Bay Area where innovation and risk taking is a trademark. I really think this is not the right lesson we want to teach our kids ..."

"For the illusion of "safety," McKinley is living so cautiously that the school is failing students, parents, and the community which benefit from innovate education."

"As McKinley continues to remove activities for our students, there becomes less of a reason to attend McKinley"
