Some things you should know about this petition.

It's a shame how many creators will lose money in the process of this boycott being performed; a shame how many were also wrongly banned before and likely will be after this boycott too.

Personally, I am not a fan of Sargon. I believe he has stood against free speech in certain political stances, he uses the word liberal in a far too liberal fashion, and demands empathy for right-wingers while being apathetically hateful toward left-wingers. Sargon should be more even-handed in criticizing people, and needs to defend the free speech of more than just right-wingers if he wants the media to not treat him so often as a right-winger. This petition was created by me with a primary focus on Sargon of Akkad's free speech and user rights, rather than specifically backing Sargon of Akkad's personal ideals.

With that in mind.

He never did anything to warrant or deserve wrongful censorship, bans, and this time on top of those, his main income being entirely cut off. If we cannot defend the free speech of our enemies even when it is controversial to defend it, then we will lose our free speech when it is socially acceptable to censor it. Though I would wager most of you are fans of Sargon, I want you all to know this goes far beyond Sargon of Akkad. If we don't draw a line in the sand, as one union of users petitioning and boycotting an entity that controls a user's income based on mass Internet policing... our pundits and in turn we, may face mass censorship later should we fail to prove we give a shit now.

And one more thing.

PayPal cut funding to SubscribeStar, and I've noticed a pattern of them cutting funding to other fine pro-free-speech services such as Gab on unjust hypocritical lines of politically motivated reasoning. The focus of this petition is strictly on Patreon, but you all should keep in mind PayPal's existence, should PayPal prove to be a greater threat to our user free speech in the long-term. But to those who care more about Sargon than specifically about their user right to free speech, this petition will continue its aim in aiding Carl Benjamin in this just conflict against Patreon's unjust censorship.

Good job in defending yourselves.

We the users have an obligation for the sake of our user rights to defend ourselves. You, by core nature, want to and should defend yourself. Free speech ends where censorship begins. Without it, we are weak due to our inability to handle differing thoughts, and intolerant due to our insistence on destroying thoughts over understanding them. I'm thankful that you all do not have a death wish and are smart enough to realize that without free speech you're all royally fucked by the powerful censors who'd wipe you off the Internet; along with every controversial person you listen to. I'm thankful that you care about yourself, and care about the entertainers and critics you listen to being allowed to exist. I'm thankful, because what fool is not thankful for mutually beneficial aid in taking down an evil as great as censorship? We need each other. I need you all. Sargon needs you all. But most importantly, you need yourself for the sake of you and your rights.
