Senate Bill 830, sponsored by Republican Senator Thomas McInnis, will make the possession or sale of Kratom illegal in North Carolina unless we can convince him and his colleagues to change their minds, or other lawmakers to vote against it. This bill was sneaked in at the last minute so time is short!

​Florida and Georgia recently decided not to ban Kratom, as did many other states like Oklahoma, Iowa and Kentucky. Louisiana and Illinois opted just for age restrictions but the other states didn't even see that need.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement did a study on Kratom and concluded that it did not appear to be harmful or a threat to the public welfare, and this was part of the reason that Florida only did an age restriction.

Kratom is a natural leaf plant related to coffee, not a drug as is portrayed. There is no reliable evidence that Kratom is causing harm.  Kratom also brings tens of millions of revenue to North Carolina
