As we observe National Crime Victims' Rights Week, my family and I are reminded of the tragic loss of my 16-year-old son, Henry, whose senseless murder was a devastating blow to our family. In his memory, we're working to pass the Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law in Wisconsin, also known as the Red Flag law.

Since Governor Tony Evers' State of the State address, Wisconsin has been eerily quiet on gun safety, despite his call to action. There's been little movement on enacting the ERPO law, which would allow law enforcement and family members to request a court order temporarily restricting access to firearms for individuals posing a significant risk to themselves or others.

This law is a common-sense solution enacted in other states to prevent tragedies like the one that took my son Henry's life. We're still waiting for lawmakers to take action and prioritize Wisconsin families' safety. The silence on this issue is unsettling, and I won't give up until I see meaningful change.
