These laws strike a balance between public safety and due process, providing a mechanism to intervene when someone poses a risk of harming themselves or others. Unfortunately, Wisconsin has stalled progress on this front, refusing to hold legislative hearings. It’s imperative that action be taken to safeguard lives in danger. Despite the evidence of their effectiveness in other states, our lawmakers have stalled progress on this critical issue. Lives hang in the balance, and we cannot afford to wait any longer.
