I'm very grateful for WLEX-TV Channel 18 News & Ajay Patel coming out and doing the segment on Jayden's Law yesterday evening.

Due to time constraints, it was impossible to include every single feature of Jayden's Law.  So here is a breakdown of what Jayden's Law would do:

What Jayden’s Law Does

• Expands capital protections to all children under 18.

• Creates a new capital offense: Murder by Abuse of a Child.

• Elevates Aggravated Criminal Abuse of a Child to a Class A felony with violent offender status.

• Establishes felony Failure to Protect for parents/guardians who knowingly permit abuse.

• Raises penalties for manslaughter of a child to 10–20 years minimum. • Elevates endangerment to a felony when it risks death/serious injury.

• Defines limits on “reasonable discipline” (bans head strikes, choking, burns, and injury-causing punishment).

• Permanently terminates custody and visitation for any convicted child abuser or killer, with no restoration allowed.

• Requires recording cameras in all licensed daycares, with 90-day retention.

• Permanently bans abusers from child-serving roles.

• Strengthens prevention through child fatality reviews, county dashboards, prosecutor data-sharing, and an online predator registry similar to the current sex offender registry but it would be for those convicted of child murder and abuse.
