63 signatures, a visit to Parliament’s doorstep – and what comes next

I want to start with a huge thank you. Every single one of you who has signed, shared, commented, or quietly sat with the words behind #fourlittlefeet has helped bring this from an idea into a growing movement. Your names are not just numbers on a counter; they are proof that disabled people and our families are not alone in this fight.

As of today, we’ve reached 63 signatures. That may sound small on a national scale, but it’s already big enough to change what happens next in my own corner of the world. This week, I went to the constituency office of my Member of Parliament, Jesse Sunner, and formally requested the opportunity to present this petition in Parliament. Her office has confirmed that they will be responding to me with next steps. That means Jas’ Law and #fourlittlefeet are no longer just living on the internet – they are now knocking on the doors of the House of Commons.

This is where gratitude and battle cry meet. I am deeply grateful for every person who has signed. At the same time, I am not content to stop here. The policies we’re challenging keep more than a million disabled people in poverty and quietly punish love, partnership, and family in ways most Canadians would never accept if they saw them up close. That reality demands more from all of us than a polite whisper. It deserves a chorus.

My goal is to push this petition into the thousands, not just the dozens. When I go back to follow up with my MP, I want to bring not only my own story, but the visible weight of your support behind me. I want to be able to say: this is not just one person’s plea; this is a community insisting that disabled people must not be forced below the poverty line or punished for love.

Here is how you can help in this next phase:

- If you have not yet signed, please consider adding your name today.
- If you *have* signed, you can multiply your impact by sharing the petition with even two or three people you trust and asking them personally to sign.
- If you use social media, posting the link with the hashtag #fourlittlefeet helps others find and amplify this campaign.

We are up against systems that have been built, layer by layer, to normalize disability poverty and to make “don’t risk love, don’t risk family” sound like sensible advice. Jas’ Law is our way of saying no: no more disability poverty, no more relationship penalties, no more stolen futures and hallways where four little feet never get the chance to run.

Thank you for standing with me, and with disabled neighbours across this country. Your support is the reason I could walk into an MP’s office and ask for this to be heard. Let’s keep going until no government can look away, and until disabled people are allowed not just to survive, but to love, to raise families, and to grow old in community.

Onward. #fourlittlefeet
