Having a period is not a luxury; it's a basic part of being a female human. Yet, the financial burden it imposes can make it feel like a luxury, an expensive one at that. On average, we - American's with periods- spend $100–$300 per year on period products alone. When we consider the costs for pain relief and hygiene products, we are looking at a total that can range from $150–$500 per year. These financial pressures are only getting higher as prices continue to grow. 

We believe it's time to change this situation. That's why we urge lawmakers to pass H.R.3646 - the Menstrual Equity For All Act of 2023. This legislation seeks to address menstrual inequity by ensuring free menstrual products in public schools, homeless shelters, prisons, among other public places, as well as promoting greater business transparency in this domain.

It's not just about money, it's about dignity. It's about securing basic hygiene needs for all women, young girls, and individuals who menstruate, regardless of their income or circumstance. It's about menstrual equity for everyone in our nation.
