It has been a relatively quiet period for the Campaign over the Summer months but things are beginning to ramp up once again. We were delighted to break through the 9000 signatories mark but feel there are many many more people out there who just haven't yet taken the time to add their name. Please keep sharing the link and encourage friends and family to sign. A clear demonstration of public support is key. A link to the page is on the home page of the website http://www.roadshare.co.uk We announced that BRAKE has given its support and full backing to the Campaign which is not surprising given their focus on vulnerable road users. Watch out for some other new supporters in the coming weeks. We met with Derek Mackay, Minister for Transport and the Islands. He still remains unconvinced as to the "case for presumed liability" but we are continuing to educate and communicate with his Transport Scotland colleagues. A request has been made to present the case once again to members of the Scottish Parliament's Cross Party Group for Cycling as there are still individuals and groups who need further help and education of the facts and the benefits. This presentation will take place next Tues (22nd Sept). A good summary of the proposal, benefits and real case studies can be downloaded from the website at http://www.roadshare.co.uk/downloads-links We are developing and publishing more case studies such as the one attached to this update. This helps to illustrate the key issues experienced by real people. This campaign is not about cyclists, nor pedestrians, nor car drivers. It is about people. It is about people who cycle, people who walk, people who drive cars. It is about changing the Law in Civil cases to support the vulnerable road users. The current "David v Goliath" situation of injured road user v the large Insurer is just not right in a morally just and socially conscious Scotland. We have added a "Donate" button to the website should anyone feel able to support us financially in the build up to the May 2016 Scottish Elections where we will continue to lobby MSPs across all parties and embrace wider public support. With your help and support we will continue to press on. The Road Share Steering Group
