Stop the Sale of Puppies by Pet Shops/Third-Party Dealers!

The Issue

Dogs raised in puppy farms are being trapped in windowless sheds, without light heat or human contact. They then are sold away, separated from their mothers to unsuspecting purchasers by pet shops and other third-party dealers.

As an animal protection campaigner, I cannot allow these dogs to suffer without saying something and I hope you will join me by signing this petition to stop the third party sales of puppies.

In 2014, Pup Aid and C.A.R.I.A.D. petitioned for a change in the law and got over 110,000 signatures leading to a parliamentary debate.

In 2016, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee made a recommendation for a ban to DEFRA. DEFRA ultimately rejected this  recommendation.

During the general election, dog protection group Boycott Dogs4Us, in support of PupAid and C.A.R.I.A.D.’s campaign, petitioned for all parties to pledge to ban the sale of puppies in pet shops. Labour pledged to ban it and now I’m asking the Government and all parties once again to commit to backing a ban.

This is because the sale of puppies in pet shops and by third-party dealers aids puppy farming by concealing the true origin of puppies. Puppies sold in this way also face long journeys to stores (and other dealers) and unsuitable housing and socialisation when they arrive. We can change this.

Please sign this petition to put an end to this animal cruelty.
