Hong Kong is no longer a place of freedom. The world must see it. Foreign journalists will now face unprecedented persecutions here! Victor Mallet, the news editor of the Financial Times and the vice-president of the Foreign Correspondents' Club (FCC) in Hong Kong, was denied working visa renewal. His courage to attest Hong Kong's political freedom should be applauded since he hosted a conference for pro-independence activist.
The incident should be regarded as a key evidence of Hong Kong's degree of autonomy and freedom being severely undermined. This is also another humiliation of British people after Benedict Rogers, a British politician, was barred entry to Hong Kong last year. The British government should come to a conclusion that their effort to maintain Hong Kong's status as a free society has ended.
