Australia and the United Kingdom have commenced talks to negotiate a comprehensive trade and mobility deal between the two countries, with the first round of discussions described as successful and productive.
“We start from a very strong position in terms of backpacking and working holidays that already exist, and there are some ways we can build on that to make it even easier,” said Simon Birmingham, Australia's Trade Minister. “There’s huge goodwill between Australia and Britain to do the deal. With the flow of people between the two countries already so large, we have a strong understanding of one another.”

In addition, according to a global ranking index for 2020, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom have been ranked in the Top 10 for possessing the world’s most powerful passports.
The survey demonstrates the ease in which facilitated migration can be implemented between the CANZUK countries, as visa-free access is common-place when Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and British passports are used crossing borders.
