The Issue

Jamaica is a proud nation, a land of strength, culture, and faith. Yet our people are crying out to be heard.

While citizens struggle with daily hardships, we watch leaders argue in Parliament. Arrogance, bias, and lack of transparency have left Jamaicans frustrated, powerless, and unheard.

We are especially concerned about the current Speaker of the House, Juliet Holness (née Landell) wife of Prime Minister Andrew Holness. While her position is respected, many Jamaicans feel uncomfortable seeing husband and wife hold two of the most powerful roles in government. This creates a clear conflict of interest.

How can citizens trust that debates are fair when decisions may be influenced by private conversations behind closed doors?  Decisions that should serve the people risk being overshadowed by personal or family ties.

The truth is, the real challenges lie behind the doors of Parliament doors that ordinary Jamaicans cannot access. Our faith in our leaders requires transparency, fairness, and accountability.

We demand:

1. Transparency and accountability from Jamaica’s leaders.

2. An impartial Speaker of the House who truly represents the people, not personal connections.

3. Respectful debate in Parliament, where citizens’ voices are heard and valued.

4. International oversight from the Commonwealth Secretariat and UK Parliament to ensure governance standards are upheld.

5. Support and aid for Jamaicans facing real hardships while government decisions are delayed or unfair.

Jamaica is moving too slowly, while its people are suffering too fast. We need immediate action not more speeches, but change that matters.

To our leaders: Listen to your people.

To our citizens: Raise your voice. Demand fairness, accountability, and the support our country deserves.

We call on the Commonwealth Secretariat to step in and review Jamaica’s internal governance, ensuring that decisions in Parliament serve the people not personal or family interests.
