Kolmårdens delfinarium är Sveriges enda delfinarium och sedan de öppnade 1969 har omkring 60 delfiner dött på delfinariet.
Att hålla delfiner i fångenskap medför många problem. Det är vanligt med hudproblem, sjukdomar och att delfinerna dör vid en tidig ålder. Det går aldrig att jämföra en klorerad betongbassäng med havet.
Tiden är mogen för oss som samhälle att omvärdera vårt förhållande till djur. Den enda moraliskt rätta vägen för Kolmården att gå är att ta fram en avvecklingsplan för denna del av verksamheten om man är uppriktigt intresserad av delfinernas väl och inte maximerar ekonomisk profit på djurs lidande. Det finns en stor portion goodwill och ett gott renommé i detta för Kolmården att vinna.

There are several problems with keeping dolphins in captivity. It is common with skin problems, diseases and the fact that the dolphins die in an early age. It is impossible to compare a chlorinated concrete pool with the ocean.
The time is right for us as a society to rethink our relationship to other animals. The only morally right way for Kolmården to go is to make a plan to close this part of their operation if they are sincerly interested in the welfare of the dolphins and dont maximize profit on animal suffering. There are lots of goodwill that Kolmården can win with this change.
