Thank you so much for your amazing support for our petition asking parkrun to reverse the decision to make David Dinsmore a Trustee. OVER A THOUSAND of you have now sent out the clear message that misogyny, body shaming, divisiveness, and xenophobia have no place in parkrun and that something has to change before the viability of local events is undermined.
There are THREE THINGS you can do now to keep the pressure up for genuine dialogue between parkrun and representatives of leaders from local event volunteer teams most acutely affected by the fallout from this controversial appointment.
ONE: Make sure everyone at your local parkrun knows what is going on and why. Print out and wear our lovely #NoMoreDinsmore chest label* when you run this Saturday. Download it here https://we.tl/t-I3OcDsTLwq (versions with either 1 or 2 labels per page). May we suggest it would go perfectly with a nice yellow top…?
TWO: Express your support for the letter posted here https://www.facebook.com/crosbyparkrun which has been sent to parkrun’s senior managers and trustees by Event Directors and Ambassadors from Merseyside based parkruns by sending an e-mail yourself. Just a short message in your own words backing the substance of this letter and saying why it matters to you will really make it clear that this is not a small, local grievance, but a misjudgement that is adversely affecting all sorts of people’s relationship with parkrun, across the UK and beyond.
THREE: Share what you’re doing and what you think on social media. “Likes” are nice but “Shares” and “Retweets” are much, much more powerful. Share your thoughts and pictures with us by including the hashtag #NoMoreDinsmore
And don’t forget to leave your comments on the petition site too, we love hearing from you.
A thousand thanks!
John and Sue
