I'm stumped. We all are. At least one mature tree was removed during the museum land grab attempt. Most of us won't live to see another 50-year-old tree replace the one Ocasio saw fit to cut down.

Why has the public been completely excluded from any conversation about the new construction development on public land?

Why? Are there backroom deals being cut (like the poor tree) which allow Ocasio to proceed with his brazen theft of our parkland? In exchange we get a permanent detrimental effect on our historic and protected architecture and landscape? Ocasio stated that he plans to develop more parkland into a Ravinia-style event area! This building could be the gateway for the future theft of dozens of additional acres of land THAT BELONGS TO ALL OF US! 

Egads!

I've reached out to numerous Chicago Park District officers and employees by email and phone. Some are named on this petition, and I've gone out of my way to make sure they were informed about it.

Not one of them has bothered to respond. 

The Park District has the power to immediately order the demolition and removal of the unauthorized structure. It is a simple matter of contract, as the tenant failed to seek and obtain permission from their landlord (CPD). There can be no genuine conversation with the community while the structure stands. Conversation comes first, then review, suggestions, modifications, compromise, approval or rejection. 

There was no other process implemented besides running roughshod over the community, over the landlord, and over the law. It has to stop. YOU need to speak up, NOW!

Our voices need to be heard, and Wednesday is an opportunity to address the Chicago Park District Board of Directors all at once, formally, in a way that CANNOT BE IGNORED.

Community let's work together to protect our park from private developers.
